Once upon a time, in a far away land, you would have often found me hiding in the back of our family gift store, away from the bustle of customers, doing what I preferred to be doing over sales and customer service, and that was personalising gifts through engraving.
Don't get me wrong. I loved our customers so when it was quieter, I would certainly pop out for a good old chat! Especially when there was a pot of tea on the go! And, it was amazing having a brick-and-mortar store! I do miss that! But I just loved being out back in the workshop, personalising all the beautiful gifts our gift store sold. From Christening gifts to Wedding gifts and every special occasion in between and beyond, I loved adding The Personal Touch to each piece, making each one unique in its own right.
Actually, now that I think about it... as I take this trip down memory lane... do you know what I loved even more than engraving? I absolutely loved the reaction from our customers when I presented the engraved, personalised gift back to them (no wonder why I love reviews so much!!). That look never got old. I always allowed time to be able to come out from the workshop and present the engraved personalised gift to them. That way they could check over it with me but really, so I could witness that wonderful reaction that I love so much before handing the sale back to my beloved mum, Jean, or my sister, or to one of our amazing employees (now friends), before disappearing back to the workshop to engrave the next piece on the pile.
There is just something magical about a personalised gift and it brings joy to people. It's that special. And I love getting to be the person who gets to provide the personalised gifts that creates such joy. It's genuinely a privilege.
